화창한 봄날에 오레곤한인회가 주최하고 한인회 문화센터(이사장 프란체스카 김)가 주관한 “한인회 문화센터 봄학기 발표회”가 7일 낮 12시 비버튼도서관 지하 강당에서 성황리에 열렸다.

지역사회의 성원과 응원속에 강사진과 수강생들의 땀과 열정이 담긴 발표회는 객석을 가득 메운 관객들의 들 뜬 표정이 화창한 봄날만큼이나 밝고 환했다.

한인회 제니퍼 그로스 이사의 사회로 진행된 축제의 장은 문화센터 핵심 클래스인 라인댄스와 난타, 노래, 태권도 공연이 선을 보이면서 지난 1년동안 수강생들이 열심히 배우고 갈고 닦은 실력들을 유감없이 쏟아내어 관객들에게 깊은 울림과 감동을 선사했다.

환영사에 나선 프란체스카 김 이사장은 “문화센터는 동 포들과 함께 공감하는 선도적 문화예술공간으로서 건강하고 행복한 한인사회 건설에 앞장서고 있다”고 강조하고 “지친 이민생활을 배움과 학습으로 채워나가는 동포들의 문화활동을 적극 돕고 지원하겠다”고 다짐 했다.

 

내빈소개에 이어 태권도 전 호 지도사범 수제자들의 태권도 시범경기로 첫 무대를 연 이날 공연은 노래교실 서정만 강사의 수강생들의 노래와 난타 임미숙 강사로부터 지도받은 난타 연주자들이 흥을 돋구면서 관객들의 마음을 들뜨게 했다.

축제의 하이라이트를 장식한 라인댄스는 페티린 강사의 출중한 실력을 지도받은 10명의 단원들이 ‘서울탱고!’ ‘The Ghost of you’를 아름다운 춤사위로 우아하게 연출하였으며 ‘st TU me das’, ‘Scottin boogie’를 추어 관중들의  뜨거운 박수를 받았다.

이날 공연에는 그랙콜드웰 한국명예영사, 김헌수 한인회장, 음호영 이사장, 오정방 고문, 송영욱 부회장, 김미선 부회장 박현식 사무총장, 김성윤 이재찬 이희영 박창영 김홍기 이사와 제인 김 노인회 부회장, 호선희 한국학교교장, 지승희 평통 포틀랜드 지회장, 김혜자 문인협회장 등이 참석하여 강사진과 수강생들에게 축하와 격려인사를 전했다.

Korean Society of Oregon presents Cultural Center Spring Performance!



 

On a radiant spring day, the Korean Society of Oregon, under the leadership of President Heon-soo Kim and Chairman Ho-yeong Eum, in collaboration with the Korean Cultural Center, directed by Chairman Francesca Kim and Director Sydney Taggart, hosted a spectacular Spring Performance at the Beaverton Library auditorium on April 7th, 2023.

The enchanting presentation, illuminated by the dedication and fervor of both instructors and students, was met with the excited expressions of an enthralled audience filling the seats. With the steadfast support of the local community, the event flourished, as radiant and uplifting as the sunlit spring day it took place on.

The mesmerizing showcase featured captivating performances of line dance, Nanta (Korean Drum), singing, and Taekwondo (Korean martial art), all of which are integral classes offered at the cultural center. Each performance left a lasting impression on the delighted attendees.

In her welcome speech, Chairman Francesca Kim emphasized the vital role of the Korean Cultural Center in fostering a healthy, happy, and united Korean community, acting as a leading cultural and artistic space that empathizes with Koreans. She pledged to actively assist and support their efforts.

Following the introduction of distinguished guests, the event commenced with an enthralling Taekwondo demonstration by skilled students. The line dance performance, gracefully executed with elegant dance moves, was the highlight of the day, eliciting warm applause from an appreciative audience.

After the riveting performances, the Korean Society of Oregon provided a delectable hot meal for over 174 attendees, including the hardworking volunteers. The Korean Cultural Center, committed to nurturing the community, offers 11 diverse courses for the Spring term, including beginner and intermediate Line Dance, beginner and intermediate Art Class, Korean Drum, Singing class, flower arrangement, Ping Pong, Youth Soccer, Oriental Art, and Baduk.
