Application of Korean American Youth Ambassadors (KAYA) at Korean Society of Oregon (2024-2027)
Greetings!
On behalf of the Korean Society of Oregon (KSO), the committee of KAYA is pleased to announce that we are accepting applications for the next Korean American Youth Ambassadors among Korean American adolescents.
If you have children who are:
- Currently residing in the Portland area;
- In 7th to 10th grades in fall 2024; and
- Interested in participating as a member of KAYA in various activities hosted/sponsored by KSO throughout the year starting August, 2024,
please fill in this form by Friday, August 8, 2024.
We strongly encourage that you work with your child(ren) to fill out this form: Section 1 needs to be answered by the applicant, and Section 2 needs to be answered by the parent or guardian. If you have more than one child you would like to apply for the KAYA program, you will have to fill in this form separately.
All information collected in this form will be kept confidential and only be used for KAYA member selection purpose with restricted access by the KAYA committee.
You will be notified of the result of your child(ren)’s application by August 12, 2024. Once they are chosen to be a member of KAYA, KSO will acknowledge them by providing a letter of appointment during the Korean Liberation Day ceremony on August 15, 2024 at the KSO office, located at 7650 SW 81st Ave, Portland, OR 97223. Newly selected KAYA members are expected to attend the ceremony, and more information about the ceremony will be provided later.
Participating as a KAYA member would be an excellent way to contribute to the growing Korean American community in the area. Additionally, given that KSO is recognized as a non-profit organization by the US government, active KAYA members will be recognized by the US President toward the end of the three-year term, upon completing certain numbers of hours committed to KSO-related activities (e.g., Bronze for 50+ or 100+ hours; Silber for 75+ or 175+; and Gold for 100+ or 250+ hours depending on the age of the KAYA member).
Thank you so much for your interest in the KAYA program! If you have any additional inquiries, send an email at kayaoregon@gmail.com.
